Inorder to promote football at the national level, the Indian Football Association (IFA) has launched Premier League Soccer (PLS).The tournament is an attempt to fuel growing interest in football in cricket-mad India, which is ranked a lowly 158th in the world.
It will be featuring world-class semi-retired players such as Portuguese midfielder Nuno Ricardo de Oliveira Ribeiro aka Maniche, winger Sergio Conceiçao and many other foreign players.
Organisers said the dates of the tournament will be announced early next month, although they had earlier announced a possible February 25 start.

Kolkata- Salt Lake Stadium
Barasat- Vidyasagar Kriyangan
Howrah- Howrah Municipal Corporation Stadium
Durgapur- Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium
Siliguri- Kanchenjunga Stadium
Haldia- Durgachak Stadium
All cities and districts of WEST BENGAL,INDIA.Each franchise can have four foreign players. All the teams will play five home matches and the same number of away matches in the first stage. Then there will be semi-finals and then a grand final.
But doubts remain over success of the PLS, as their is not much publicity of the event and may fail to attract interest in games played at small provincial grounds.
Furthur, the All-India Football Federation (AIFF) has restricted Indian players from the domestic I-League to join PLS.
